Washed Out – You And I (ft. Caroline Polachek)

Listen here:

I saw Washed Out (aka Ernest Greene from Georgia) open up for Beach House in Baltimore two weeks ago and I couldn't figure out if I liked watching one dude up there on stage doing his thing or if I felt like I was looking at a webcam of him in his bedroom vibing out. Still, I was impressed with his ambient dreamy vocals which were right on. I thought that was going to be the hardest aspect of his sound to replicate given that it all comes from samples and there wasn't one real instrument on stage, just one homeboy and his samplers. Luv that Caroline Polachek (Lead singer of Chairlift from Brooklyn) jumped on this track to get some good chillwave buzz going. I met Caroline at one of her shows when she opened up for Peter Bjorn last year and I almost asked her to be mine forever....My GF at the time was with me or I would have tried to hang out with her after the show....or at least I like to think that I would have asked her to run over to the Tryst in AdMo with me or something and chill out real hard. We talked about her two unreleased songs that she played that weren't on the original release of her album and I acted like I knew what she was talking about how she resampled the tracks for the album. I then asked her if those were holly berries on her shirt...but they were cherries. She told me that she loved how "soccer mom" her shirt was. I then thought -Wow caroline is so cool that she can make a soccer mom shirt look hott....she doesnt even care about her look she just throws on whatever and it looks good...but then i thought....well she probably thought a lot about her "look" and her "look" is to look anti mainstream by wearing an ugly shirt that noone would ever wear. anyways, this track might be just as cool as Ernie's first chilled out-maxed out mp3 -Feel it all around-. Great track but this comes from an EP put out by KIA Motors...*shock *disbelief. what does a korean car manufacturer know about music? Its like when Chromeo released their single Night by Night on a Mountain Dew record label. I mean the song is great and the video is even better but I wasnt how they were forcing the mountain dew brand on me by trying to say that "Doing the dew" is a lifestyle involving heavy synth tracks and vocoder vocals from Pee Thugg. Nevertheless, toss this song on and take your pants off and just reeelaaaaaxxxxx//////////
